The property is divided by La Berlande, a charming small river which runs through the property under two ancient stone bridges and which also serves as the border between the Communes of Mazieres sur Beronne and Paizay le Tort. We offer bed and breakfast facilities in the Logis. The English owners live in the Logis de Canteau and are always pleased to assist with advice or for babysitting etc. The property is surrounded by cereal and vegetable crops and, in July and August, sunflower fields too. |

There is also an abundance of birds, including
Hen Harriers, Falcons & Buzzards. The area is ideal for walking and cycling with many hiking trails and quiet country roads. Melle, our nearest market town is an 8 minute drive from Canteau and offers all amenities: supermarkets, restaurants and a pizzeria, cafe-bars, hairdressers, pharmacies, banks, a Post Office, and a selection of small shops, as well as squash and gym facilities. The area is steeped in history and there are splendid examples of Romanesque churches dating back to the 11th century, as well as ancient silver mines. |
